Bostwana Agate Collection~
These
pieces are made with Agate from Botswana, Africa. It has a grey
background with brown, light grey and white bands and is as durable
as it is beautiful. Agate is a semiprecious stone of the Quartz
family that was highly valued by ancient civilizations. Agate is
mentioned in the Bible in the book of Exodus where God directed
The Israelites to make a breastpiece for Aaron to wear… Exodus
28:15-20 says..“Fashion a breastpiece for making decisions
– the work of a skilled craftsman. Make it like the ephod:
of Gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted
linen. It is to be square – a span long and a span wide –
and folded double. Then mount four rows of precious stones on it.
In the first row there shall be a Ruby, a Topaz and a Beryl; in
the second row a Turquoise, a Sapphire and an Emerald: in the third
row a Jacinth, an Agate and an amethyst; in the fourth row a Chrysolite,
an Onyx and a Jasper." |

Agate is listed as one of the stones in Aaron’s breastpiece. Aaron was Israel’s first high priest. The breastpiece typified the ability of our High Priest who is Jesus to love His own. The breast is the place of affection and our High Priest carries us not only on His shoulders (see Onyx) but also on His heart. What a great reminder of God’s love for us.
